Meet with Yaquelin
My mission as a psychotherapist is to help clients by equipping them with tools to overcome life’s challenges. I strongly believe that healing is collaborative work, and I am committed to working with clients in a safe space in which we can increase self-awareness, decrease symptoms, and establish goals for treatment. I utilize an anti-oppressive and culturally competent approach in my work. I do this by combining a variety of approaches, including CBT, psychodynamic, person-centered, trauma-informed, solution-focused and motivational interviewing to cater to each client’s specific needs.
My clinical social work education at Hunter College of New York and experience on a mobile crisis team equipped me with the skills to work with high-risk populations. Because of my experience, I am also able to connect with people in a manner that helps them feel comfortable with the process. During my career, I assisted adults of all ages, backgrounds and abilities with anxiety, depression, life transitions, body image issues, and other stressors that affect people throughout their lives.
Prior to the pandemic, I have traveled to many places and was able to appreciate different cultures around the world. I am a bilingual psychotherapist and can conduct therapy in Spanish. In my free time, I love to read clinical books, color, do puzzles, and spend time with my dog.
